Disc Decompression

Dr. Perusich is now certified in the Kennedy Method for Disc Decompression!

We utilize the Saunders 3D ActiveTRAC Spinal Decompression Therapy System

An effective treatment for:   3D Active Trac
• Herniated Discs

• Low Back & Neck Pain

• Sciatica

• Post-Surgical Patients

• Stenosis

• Facet Syndrome

Do you have a herniated or bulging disc, multiple herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, neck pain, back pain, numbness and tingling in the arms hands or legs? Is your doctor suggesting surgery, Pain Management, or Physical Therapy?

A lot of literature has often suggested traction therapy for these patients and often states high rates of success. Research indicates the disc may be responsible for a significant number of back, neck, arm and leg pain syndromes. External compressive forces increase the pressure within the disc causing the outer rings to weaken, bulge and even tear. If a disc bulge or herniation occurs, the fragments or bulging material can compress and irritate surrounding spinal nerves leading to numbness, tingling and pain.

 How Does Decompression Therapy Work?

Spinal decompression therapy is a non-surgical, traction based treatment that uses a computerized guided pulley system to cycle through distraction and relaxation phases to gently separate the bones of the spine. A specific spinal segment can be isolated and placed under a negative pressure gradient, causing a vacuum effect within the disc. The disc material that has protruded or herniated outside the normal confines of the disc can be pulled back within the disc, thus taking pressure off the surrounding pain sensitive nerves. In addition to relieving nerve irritation, decompression therapy increases circulation to the disc which stimulates healing within the injured tissues.

In fact, our system offers additional options that many of the other systems do not.  In addition to lumbar traction, our system is also capable of performing cervical decompression traction.

How Long is a Typical Treatment?

A typical treatment session for decompression therapy is approximately 20-30 minutes depending on each patient’s condition. In almost all cases, the treatments are completely painless. In fact, some patients fall asleep during their spinal decompression sessions.  We make every effort to make you comfortable during your sessions.

Because most patients receive therapy before their treatment to relax the muscles and rehabilitation exercises afterwards, the total time spent in our office is approximately 45 to 60 minutes per session.

We have experienced positive results utilizing 12 - 18 treatment sessions over a 4 to 6-week period. Although treatment may last up to 6 weeks, many patients feel relief from their pain after only a few sessions. And remember, every case is different, so your results and number of treatments may vary from the averages.

Cost?

Our friendly staff will happily provide you with an estimated cost of your care plan.  However, we assure you that we are very competitive with pricing and choose to pass the savings on to you.  In fact, you may save more than half of what other clinics are charging!
